On 26 May, for instance, Ganna Gnizdovska co-moderated an online discussion hosted by the Committee titled:
“Legal Protection of Football Players: How Contracts, Transfers, and Unions Work.”
The event brought together lawyers, representatives of football clubs, trade union leaders, athletes, and everyone interested in what it means to protect a player — not on the pitch, but at the negotiating table, in contracts, and in courtrooms ⚔️
Ganna co-moderated the session with Yevhenii Promskyi, Chair of the UBA Sports Law Committee and the Committee’s main driving force.
👥 Speakers included:
● Roman Morozov — Deputy Head of the All-Ukrainian Trade Union “Football of Ukraine”, Membership Manager at the All-Ukrainian Association of Professional Footballers, and Deputy Chair of the UAF Dispute Resolution Chamber.
● Yuliia Hrechko — First Deputy Head of the same union, Chief Legal Counsel of the All-Ukrainian Association of Professional Footballers, and Member of the UAF Committee on the Status and Transfer of Players.
📌 The discussion focused on:
● the role of trade unions in representing athletes and negotiating with clubs;
● resolving employment disputes involving players;
● common mistakes when signing first professional contracts;
● gender inequality in sport and discrimination against women footballers;
● guarantees for players in cases of injury, dismissal, or non-payment 💸
We thank the UBA and fellow Committee members for organising a meaningful and substantive discussion.
The event once again underscored: legal protection in sport is not just theory — it’s daily practice. And we’ll definitely return to this topic again. ⚖️
